I have worked in the Electronic Manufacturing Industry since leaving University, working for various companies ranging from start-ups to multi-Nationals, with varied roles in Design, Production Engineering and Operational Management to Director Level.
For the last 32 years, I have been working in the Contract Electronic Manufacturing Industry and my last role prior to founding Ampthill EMS was as Director of Engineering at AsteelFlash in Bedford, (formerly MRP Electronics).
Upon leaving AsteelFlash I could see that there was a serious hole in the market for offering a personal and responsive service for those Customers requiring a quality fast turnaround service at a sensible price. I decided to use the considerable knowledge and experience that I had built up to fill that hole and started Ampthill EMS.

We are happy to provide a full material procurement service or work on a free issue basis

Surface Mount Assembly
We can offer fully automated placement using our full vision pick and place machine, but we also understand that not all components can be supplied in a suitable format and are happy to deal with strips and loose components.
Auto placement of parts from 0402 to 22mm²

Conventional Assembly
Manual soldering of all parts.

A full procurement service can be provided, or we are equally happy working on a free-issue basis. We hold reeled stocks of the most common resistors and capacitors and are willing to use these to reduce your assembly costs for small batch runs.
PCB Layout
Using our extensive contacts we can put you in touch with experienced design and layout Engineers and are happy to project manage your requirement. We have provided reverse Engineering services when no Gerber or CAD exists, re-designed conventional boards to surface mount and re-engineered boards to reduce size.
Rework
Not every project goes to plan. We are used to helping our customers with component replacement, track cuts and modification. We have hot air and infrared rework machines and can offer a full service including BGA replacement.
